Tekiatsu Clan

History: Years ago, when shinobi were first coming into their understanding of chakra, the Tekiatsu clan were the prominent family of a settlement, located in an area called the Valley of Tornadoes. The valley itself was a jewel, with pristine fertile soil, a clean river going through the length of the valley, and exposed sites for natural resources. However, its location in relation to the world put it in a prime spot for vast storms during much of the year, including the tornadoes of it's namesake.

The clan's patriarch, Koji Tekiatsu, was one of those who learned the teachings of the Sage, and took from it a belief that chakra can be used to tame the wilds for the good of the people. Upon return to the valley, he decided to use his new-found knowledge to try and controls the storms that made their living difficult. What happened next is shrouded in mystery and legend, but it is said that Koji climb up the valley to the highest point, Storm Peak, and struggled for a week to tame the storms. It is said the shinobi's fight against nature was so strong that it tore him apart, but his sheer will kept him together.

Whatever the cause, when he returned he was visibly changed. His hair was disheveled, his skin was lighter, and his eyes shown blue. On top of that, as he grew older his eyes began to show lightning bolts within the iris. The first day he arrived back to the family, the valley's weather changed, and for the first time since they could remember, the skies were absolutely clear. While their small community prospered, Koji began teaching his already grown children how to wield such chakra, and slowly the Tekiatsu family began taking on similar appearances, starting with the newborn Haru displaying the very characteristics that his father had. Once Haru was old enough to start playing with chakra, Koji found that the trials he and his older sons had to endure would not apply, as the trait developed in the younger boy. Once Haru was old enough to be considered an adult, old Koji took to the peak one last time, letting himself go and become a part of the skies itself. As the members of the clan passed on, they each would dissipate into clouds, becoming part of the sky as well.

As with all the early families, the Tekiatsu clan was not immune to the period of warring states, and with Koji's eldest son learning how to wield his special chakra into a weapon, their clan was hired more than once to handle certain trivial matters. A sad truth is that the abilities created with the intention of bettering man's ability to survive has lately more often than not been used to advance agendas and kill those who threaten the holder of the money purse. But then the period ended as villages were created.

The clan was approached by representatives of the largest clans in the Land of Lightning, who informed the head of what was happening in Fire territory, and suggested unity as they established their own ninja village for mutual protection. While many of the clan remained in their homelands, the core family agreed to help establish Kumogakure no Sato.

Today the clan remains one of the prominent clans in the village, though not so much outside the village due to their selected roles. While many still train offensively, the clan as a whole tends to work as spies and scouts outside the village, and healers inside. As long as the ninja is accepted by the clan, where they choose to use their gifts is freely open.
