Escort: Noblemen [Mission] [Mai]

Shinji was standing at the Daimyo's Palace, partnered with someone he knew well, Mai. The Nobleman was standing at the bottom of the steps, he was dressed for travel which was good news for them. Shinji would approach bowing his head for a moment then beginning to speak in his calm collective voice, "Good morning sir. I am Shinji Hatake of the Hidden Leaf, we are here to ensure you have a safe travel to the Land of Lightning. Do you need to do anything before we leave?" The nobleman, shook his head no which lead Shinji to turn to Mai and speak "What about you Mai? Are you prepared?" He smirked at her from beneath his mask, as he waited for her response.

If she said no then he would continue to form them together, "Mai, basically with the small numbers I want you on his left side, but keep behind him slightly. I will walk a little ahead and stick to his right. After a few moments for everyone to get in their positions before he would begin the journey walking to the northeast, the Land of Lightning as their destination. He hoped it was a easy mission this time, but he knew this man would be a good claim to fame for the low life missing ninja.

Mai was standing to Shinji's side and bow her head to the noble man as he approached the two. "Good Morning sir. My job is to make sure no harm comes to you I can use my medical ninjutsu to heal you. " She was confident in her skills as a medic so she kinda boasted to them. "But of course that will never happen." He would look onto cloud when he asks his questions.  "I am prepared" The noble man would begin to walk down the steps and Mai would follow suit behind him slightly to the left. "No caravan really?" This was the second time to V.I.P's were expected to make long trips with out a caravan. "It would make protecting him a little bit easier right?"   [124/1,000]

It had been several hours since their departure from the Palace and it wasn't until now that Shinji felt a strange presence in the area, He lifted his left hand signaling a halt in their travels as he starred down the road to a puddle. Lifting his right hand Shinji grabbed his tanto, talking low to Mai so that whoever was watching couldn't hear them. "Mai, protect the Noble." He would draw the tanto and after putting forth lightning chakra to the blade he would throw it at the puddle, which moments before hitting would transform from a puddle in the road to a Ex-Mist ninja standing in front of them, which at first didn't seem too bad til the second ninja landed 5 meters behind Mai.

Shinji took note of their locations, his tanto now 10 meters from him and the lightning had subsided. The first ninja to appear charged Shinji,  while the second went after Mai. Shinji found his self fighting hand to hand with the ninja, a swift sweeping kick would take shinji off his feet. Though quickly reacting he would plant his hand firmly on the ground and return a spinning kick motion to knock the enemy back, allowing him to return to his feet.

Mai's job is to protect the noble at all cost. She took him aside hidding him in the bushes while they take care of these two missing ninja. The Ninja was incredibly quick and flew at her with a side kick if her reflexes were any slowere she deffinityl would have been taken out. She would quickly form the hand signs Rat → Tiger → Dog → Ox → Rabbit → Tiger. SHe would then cry out. "Phoenix Sage Flower Technique" Quickly the ninja would dodge the volley of twelve basketball sized fireballs. But she got him right where she wanted him he was in the air and after regaining her balance would activate her Golden Medical Eye.  Now she could see his tendons and knew exactly where to strike. She would jump at him at a speed of 4 while committing to  the hand signs of Tiger → Horse → Rabbit → Rat → Dog. Her hands would glow blue and she would strike him precisely in the leg severing a major tendon in his right leg and he would block the scalpel heading for his head so instead she got a tendon in hos arm. He would scream out in pain while in that moment Kin would deactivate her hands and roundhouse kick him to the floor. He would soon try to get up but his right leg and left arm were very numb.

Shinji was standing 5 meters from the foe, he wondered how the fight would go.

The Enemy drew a Kunai and flicked it between Shinji's feet, while he reached down grasping the tanto and lifting it out of the ground. His simple thug and bandit voice would come out, "Short but effective blade. Personal craft? Thanks for the gift." He would charge at Shinji with the tanto in his left hand, swinging it towards the upper torso of Shinji.

Shinji watched the man do these actions, upon charging he would pick up the kunai and run at his enemy. Getting with in range the opponent sweeped the blade towards his chest, Shinji allowed his self to drop down low and plant a kick into the gut of his enemy. With him lifted up he the Kunai would be firmly planted into his abdomen, then kicked his tanto loose from the enemy hand. With a quick snatch and twist blood would drip as the throat would be severed, his tanto stained and the body collapsing behind him. He would look up now facing Mai, she had disabled the enemy very precisely and quickly. He would walk over to the two of them, the man by now not having enough strength to rise. Shinji would kneel next to the man, placing the point of the tanto on his chest. He hoped Mai did not watch, pressing the blade would end the beat of the heart and the life. Standing Shinji would speak with his calm and collected voice while re-sheathing his tanto, "Mai, are you okay?" He would pause for her answer, then ask "Where is the Noble?" After retrieving the Noble the walk was back on.

Shinji returned to his spot in front of the Noble and slightly to the right, his mind was wondering what Mai would think of him dispatching the men completely. Instead of just disabling them, but they were ninja and this was their life.

Mai did not know what she just saw she understands that shinobi should kill but her job is to heal not to kill. Watching him take out those men in such a cold way made her withdraw from him for a little while she would walk be hind the nable to make sure nothing happens to him but really she couldn't look at him as much as she wanted to she couldnt. The sun began to se and she figured it would be a good idea to set up camp for the night, "We should stop for the night." She would say to him while looking in the opposite direction. 

After camp was set she would start a fire using some rocks and sticks while sitting at a log. The noble man was sleeping in a tent in-front of her. She would then take a swig of her water then putting it down to the ground to rest perched in the grasss. Mai would grab her bad to take inventory pf whats in her backpack. She was only doing all these things to not talk to Shinji.

Shinji saw the sun setting and Mai's suggestion seemed fitting, after 30 minutes of scoping out the area he would make his way to their encampment. By the time Shinji sat down on a log by the fire the Noble would have been asleep in his tent, Shinji felt something awkward about this situation and was hesitant at first. He then spoke in a more deeply sensitive voice than usual, "Mai, please. I know something is bothering you." He would then go from looking at the fire to looking at her, his eyes light as though he had regrets for what he had to do. This was mostly because he didn't enjoy taking life, but knew it was the way of the ninja. Get them before they get you, only few could ever be trusted.

"Yes i am honestly very deeply disturbed bu what i saw today. I am a medical ninja killing is just not something i am okay with and its not something i do." She would turn away becasue she knew looking into his eyes she would feel the need to kiss him but right now he needs to sty as far in the dog house as possible but soon she would hear something wiz in the air and cut her arm. Landing right behind her. She would grab it and see a green liquid on it. "A knockout poison." She qwould soon enough fall asleep from the senbon hitting her head against the log. The ninja in the bush was very skilled enough so to not get noticed by her sensory skills.

Shinji would let her words cut him deep, it was what he was raised on as a ninja of the Warring Era. The sudden sound of a senbon would come from the bushes behind Mai, the senbon cutting her arm, she would pass out and Shinji would quickly grab the Noble and throw him over his shoulder. Mai over the other and run out on to the road, plain site was necessary to protect the two. Setting them down Shinji would quickly instruct the Noble to stay by Mai, and to do what he could keep her from progressing passed a simple knockout. Shinji would then watch as the final ninja from the treeline would flick two senbon at him, he used the tanto to deflect them down into the ground only to look up to a foot hitting the bridge of his nose. The pain enough to make blood drip from the busted skin, he knew this ninja was fast as they seemed to vanish into the trees again. He quickly activated his famous tehnique, his hair standing up in an extremely spiky fashion as a white lightning aura surrounded him.

This time when he tried to strike Shinji's newly enhanced abilities let him catch the warrior foot and slam him to the rock road, the impact surely breaking the spine as he would let out a scream of pain. Shinji would then only think of Mai as he jumped and came down full force on the mans chest, the impact crushing the rib-cage pumping blood from the enemies mouth. The man would die from the severity of the injuries, Shinji would then run over to Mai who was most likely still unconscious from the head injury alone. He would lift her in his arms, the right supporting her upper back and left craddling the backs of her knees. The would all continue on walking, her carried with the Noble slightly in front of him by 2 steps. They were nearing the destination, it was a shame they didn't get any rest that night. The sun peaking over the horizon as they grew closer and closer towards the end of their journey, Mai had not yet woken or so it had appeared to Shinji as he continued to cradle his comrade.

The poison had finally run its course after five hours and Mai would wake up yawing as if she had gotten enough rest for a full days travel back to the village. Mai would wake in Shinjis arm giving off a smile having seemingly forgotten what they were fighting about last night. "Hi handsome."  A smile would form across her face as the sun would shine in front of him giving of a very mysterious vibe. "Did i pass out last night." I don't remember a thing after falling asleep." She would hug him not realizing the noble was still in their presence. "Sorry." She would say to the noble after her display of affection.

Shinji would feel a movement in his arms as Mai awoke, it had been many hours and Shinji had become very worried. It was a relief to see her waking and smiling even, her words were sweet and heart felt. The sun had risen a bit and it was not probably 6 A.M. as she would ask him about passing out, he would nod as to not let her know fully what happened. "You fell and bumped your head pretty hard too." He would say right before she hugged him in front of the Noble, who smiled and spoke in a generous way "It's nice to see in these days not so far from War, that love blossoms in the young. You do not burden an old mans eyes, but rather show me a better future." His wrinkled face would produce a smile at them. Shinji would set Mai down and then speak to the Kumo ninja who handed him the papers stating they were the team, "We ran into some trouble, so be careful. We are gonna head home now, good luck." He would turn to Mai as they would head off back to the village.
