Though Rai was a Hyuga through and through, he sometimes enjoyed the solidarity of training in the fields rather than at home where his clan would watch him every step of the way to see his growth. Whn alone, he could really let loose, without caring about the opinion of those watching him, or going overboard and causing a little mess to clean up. And that was exactly what he had planned for the day. Yes, he was strong. Arguably the strongest Hyuga in the village. But that did not satisfy him. He had to be stronger. He had to be faster. And the only way to do that was to train until he dropped. Yes, he had heard that there were natural geniuses and geniuses of hard work. But why couldn't he be both? The man definitely had the skill. But he also had the drive to move forward no matter what.
The White eyed anbu was currently standing in front of a training post. It didn't fight back, but it would have to do until he could find a more suitable partner. Getting into his stance, the well known and feared gentle fist stance, Rai set in it and stared at the post. Mere moments went by as he got into the mindset of attacking. Then, in a burst of speed, he struck the wooden post. A loud clang rang throughout the training grounds a his palm hit the sturdy wood. He smirked as he sent another palm, making the same noise as before. As he stood there, sending strike after strike, he already began to wonder what it would cost him to replace the training equipment once he was done with it.
The palms began to come in quicker successions, turning from a slow, steady knock to a rapid beating that the post was taking. 'Clank clank clank!' was all that could be heard for anyone who had decided to pass by on that day. This continued as he moved around the post, dancing gracefully as he struck it. Every now and then, he would bob and weave as though a strike was being thrown back at him, and then get right back into the onslaught. If the sweat on his brow was any indication, he was working hard. And for Rai Hyuga that meant he was having the time of his life.
The man remembered being barley able to walk, and his father taking him into there family's dojo to teach him stances and the correct form. He reprimanded him every time he got something wrong, which wasn't often, but enough to make Rai remember. The man reprimanded him, but never hit him. At least he didn't until Rai got old enough to put those stances to use in combat. His father was more likely than not always his opponent. And that man did not hold back. Since he was seven, he was being beaten down by his father. It made him stronger, but he just didn't hold a match to his father back then.
Taking off his shirt, Rai threw it to the side and set into his stance again. He couldn't win then, but look at him now. Letting the sweat drip rather than wiping it, the Hyuga faced the post once more. But this time, his hands began to glow a faint blue. "Gentle Fist!" he say calmly as he struck the post like before. But this time, a small splinter came from the wood, flying off in the opposite direction. And Rai did not miss it. Just like he would do so in a live opponent, he found the weak spot in the wooden post. And he would exploit it.
Strike after strike, he beat the wood down, circling the slowly decreasing mass as he continued. ANd as he did so he couldn't help and think that maybe he and his father should have one last spar before the man got to old. They hadn't done so since Rai had joined the village's shinobi forces instead of steering clear like a good heir should. It would be fun to see the outcome, but he knew that the clan would take that as a sign of him saying that he was ready to take over.
"Clack Clack Clack…BOOM!'
Rai stopped at the sound of the post giving in to his onslaught. Looking down, he saw the post leaning, snapped in the middle. But he was not done yet. Looking around, Rai saw a tree that was not too far from the.. well.. what used to be the post. Walking up to it, he struck the tree with his chakra enhanced palm once, and leaves began to pour down. Quickly getting into his stance, he activated his byakugan and zoned in on every leaf that fell. And he strike begun, grabbing every leaf one by one before the hit the ground.
It started off as a struggle, but every second that passed was more time for the black haired anbu to get used to it, and soon he was catching the leaves barley before they could leave the tree. Whenever the falling began to slow he would strike the struck of the tree once more to make sure that the leaves kept coming. This method was a lot less destructive and a lot more tiring than the first. He breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth as he refused o give up until he could barely move anymore.
This went on for a good hour before Rai collapsed on the ground, breathing heavily as if he had actually just gotten into a fight. This was the end of a great training day. Not only could he actually feel himself getting stronger, but he had done so with no interruptions. Turning his head to look around the training ground, he decided that he should come here more often. He would probably have to put a lot of money into fixing it anyway.
