Description: You must protect the prince of a Minor Land on his journey from his land to his destination. Be warned Mercenaires even rouge ninja are out to get him also note that his son can be a little overbearing. They might want to stop a few times your job is to make sure they stay entertained and safe on their journey.
This Mission Requires a team of 4 Preferably a Jonin and three genin.

There was a special request from the Hokage to the ANBU Captain, an A rank mission that he assigned Shinji Hatake and Mai, a chunin. Hatake was a name he recognized but the other one not to date yet. Plus he had assigned Rai to accompany him to ensure the protection of the prince and his boy, who apparently according to the scroll could be quite overbearing and want to break multiple times. The prince and his boy sat next to him outside of the village, their bags looked as big as them. "Get your rest now, we won't break again for quite a while once the other's arrive."

Cloud let off a vibe that meant he was serious. No matter how easy the mission may seem, he never let his guard down. The large sword planted heavily on his back, the scratch on his face from the last mission with Rai was healed but still scabbed over. Now was all there to do was wait.

Mai had been on her way to their rendezvous point. After being notified of their location she would hold on to the information letting no one know. This was her first A rank Mission she has been assigned to and would not let the others Show her up. Mai was very obviously assigned to the team becasue of her medical skills mainly her eyes for she holds a powerful medical doujutsu which makes her pretty much a walking x ray machine allowing her to see the bodies organs, chakra flow and network kentestu points, bone fractures and the list continues. She hoped to be invaluable to the squad. 

Upon finally arriving she would see cloud his reputation was know across the world and she would now be on a mission with him she did not know how to greet him so instead she would walk up to the man and bow her head respectfully. "Mai Mikaeme at your service." In her bag she had stocked up on every possible medicine and supply they could need

Rai had been slacking a little when it came to his punctuality. Not that an A rank mission wasn't good enough for him, he was fine with completing them until the occasional S rank popped up. It was just that he knew this mission wouldn't be anywhere as exciting as his last. Shaking his head, he reprimanded himself for thinking that way. A shinobi should never let their guard down. He didn't know what would happen on this mission.

But then again, this was barely his mission. It was a mission for Cloud, the jounin Hatake, and the still kind of wet behind the ears chunin Mai Mikaeme. Rai was just there for backup, meaning he wouldn't really interfere unless it was necessary. Besides, he had wanted to use this opportunity as a chance to check out the chunin. He knew of her clan's abilities. It was something that always intrigued him but he had never been able to thoroughly inspect.

He was currently not too far away from the village gates, slowly making his way towards Cloud and their two clients. As he walked he saw the Mikaeme girl walk up and bow her head to her superior. Walking up to the group, he respectfully did the same to Cloud as well as the prime and his son. They were just waiting on one more and they could finally take their journey.

Shinji was sitting on top of the village gates, looking down at the arrival of their "mission" and even a man he knew as the "Bloody Flash" standing below him. The gate being high up he may not have even been noticed, waiting he say a young girl come running up and soon after a man would walk up making Shinji the last to arrive. He would lift his self up on the top of the gate planted on both feet, then jump to the ground below standing next to Cloud. He would stand his long silvery hair laying on his back and forehead, he began to speak "Shinji Hatake, Ready to go." His voice was calm and cool, his reputation as "White Lightning" no doubt known amongst the ninja before him.

It was only a matter of time before they moved out, he had assumed Cloud the highest ranking member was in charge of the 4 man squad. He was alright with taking orders, however, it would be new to him since the last man he directly listened to give orders was his deceased father.

As all three shinobi arrived for the mission one after another, it had finally formed into a four man squad. The 'White Lightning' Hatake, Rai, his own personal 2nd in command, and Mai, a medic. "Well then, I guess there is nothing left to do but head out. We form a star pattern around the targets. As lax as this mission may be, do not let your guard down. This is a priority for Konoha which means it's an honor for us to protect these two. If any of you make a mistake because of ignorance, I'll reprimand you myself." His eyes and words were cold as he began to move forward.

"Shinji to the right, Mai left, and Rai stay in the back with your Byakugan at the ready. There is word that there is a high contract for these two's lives-" Before the ANBU Captain could finish the boy had spoke up. "How long do we have to walk Daddy!? I'm tired!" The boy's voice was loud and clear through the woods, although they had just left the village but had he said it that loud further into the trip, it could have led to danger.

"That's because you wanted to stay awake all night last night when I told you we had to travel today." The prince's voice was soft and very unemotional towards his son's diligence. "We need him to be quieter when he speaks.." Cloud had stopped and patted the prince on his shoulder and leaned down to a knee and was eye height with the boy, with one hand on the kid's head, he lifted the heavy backpack from the boy's shoulders. The other's, Rai at least, would notice the seals placed on both of their bodies. "I'll carry this, make your load lighter." Cloud then began to advance further with the other's.

As they went further and further away from the village, there came a more sinister feeling that just continued to grow. If Cloud was able to pick up on it so easily, perhaps the other's were as well.

[24 Hour Skip, Rai's Character will just follow in at the back with no current actions besides walking along]

Shinji listened to Cloud as he began to set up a system, Shinji would think as each word registered in his mind:


Cloud would finish talking and like asked Shinji would walk over to the right side of the formation, the man was quiet but the kid, the nagging, bratty, little punk wouldn't shut up. Shinji would smirk beneath his mask as he spoke, his calm and collected voice would say "How long do we have to walk? Really? Kid you have lived a long and sheltered life." He would keep walking the path with the others. He watched as Cloud made his self a pack mule for the brat, then he would begin to feel out his surroundings as they got further and further from the village. He would lower his voice to a hushed tone between only the squad, "Cloud, do you feel that?" His eyes would keep a calm demeanor and without notability showing it he would scan the surroundings while appearing as though he said nothing and did nothing out of the ordinary.

Mai had decided to help calm the child from the being a brat about everything but the blonde captain's attention was already elsewhere. It was on the sinister emotions and chakra that surrounded them. "Mhm. Stay in formation.. They'll go after them first. Be on guard. I'll handle the two specials. Shinji, you watch over Mai. Rai, stay ready for the kill." He said quietly so that just the team and the two in the middle could hear them. The kid seemed scared for his life but to Cloud's surprise, the prince seemed bold and to have faith.

Something he would need as the hail of kunai's rained over them. All 14 of them aimed directly at the V.I.PS in the middle. Before the group would need to respond to the attack, Cloud, the Prince and his son disappeared in a blood red flash. Three shinobi appeared out in front of the group as their kunai's clashed against one another. "Told you it was him, the Bloody Flash.. What should we do?" asked the one, masked man to the left of the group.

"Carry on with the plan.. Leave no survivors." The middle man said, who appeared to be the leader. They all separately ran at Rai, Mai and Shinji so that they would each have one person to face while Cloud got the other two to separately.

Mai would feel their presance but since she was with the child she did not want to make a fuss but soon enough 14 kunai were coming at the Boy and his father but then soon enough the two were gone. Now it was just Mai, Rai and Shinji. They had to deal with the three lackeys only problem is Mai only has Medical justus and one Offensive technique she could try to take them but it would be no good her clan'd job was to always stay out of the fight and only intervene when necessary. "Guys i am a support Ninja. I am only a litlte help on the field." She would pull out a senbon needle and throw it towards the female goon, there is always a female. The ninja would then doge and take out a kunai and begin to slash violently at the Mai. Upon the blade almost cutting her face she could smell a poison on it. "Be careful guys they are using a very strong neurotoxin." she was very knowledgeable about her poisons and knew that ones smell from a few miles away. Mai would then send a side kick into the females gut sending her into a tree. She would quickly jump 8 meters away while she was disoriented and preform the hand seals Dragon → Tiger → Hare. "Water Style Wild Water Wave Jutsu." In a big breath she would exhale a strong current of water sending the girl through the tree at a speed of 6 doing 10 damage. "Guys I got mine."

When Hatake arrived not too soon after e had made everyone aware of his presence, Cloud began to bark out orders about the formation they were going to take. Of course, due to his visual prowess, Rai took the flank of the formation in order to warn them of whatever danger would be coming. So they walked, every thirty minutes to an hour he would activate his Byakugan to take a look around. Having it on constantly would have been a waste of chakra, especially seeing how they were still in friendly territory.

He watched as Cloud placed seals on both of their clients. It was subtle, but Rai had seen it many times before. And they were off. It didn't take long for Rai to see hostile chakra signatures slowly moving in. The chakra signatures were menacing, but he could tell that the group of Konoha shinobi outmatched those who pursued them by far. Contemplating whether he should tell them now or wait until it was an immediate threat, he turned and saw that he didn't have to say anything. Shinji mentioned it first. Of course, Cloud had already sensed it and even Mai caught wind of the impending attack.

And then it rained kunai. No worried about the prince and his son, Rai began to spin, releasing chakra and forming a shield, making the projectiles bounce off of it. The others would have to fend for themselves. He knew they would. Suddenly, he and the jounin and chunin were in a three on three with some rogue shinobi. The man who attacked him, as big and intimidating as he was, was no match for the gentle fist user. Rai could tell that he was a taijutsu user as well, which was probably why he chose to face the Hyuuga. It wasn't difficult to see which family Rai hailed from.

A palm to the chest was enough to take the man out of commission. Rai also noticed the young girl take out her opponent despite claiming to only be good for support.

Shinji watched as the Kunai began raining down, but it was only a second after they appeared that the client was in Cloud's care. A ninja burst from hiding charging at Shinji who had placed his right hand on the hilt of his tanto, the kunai slashes from his opponent were easy to dodge. Shinji moved side to side dodging each slash, Shinji waited and just like he figured a fatal mistake the man threw too much weight towards Shinji who would quickly draw the tanto and slash in one sweeping motion removing the enemies attacking hand. Then retaliating with a swift kick to the left side of his face in the jaw, the crash and overwhelming shock enough to disable the opponent who would be passed out at this moment. Shinji would return to his solitary stance as he returned the tanto to its sheath, the click as he spoke calmly to the others Rai and Mai "You guys okay if I go help Cloud?" He had faith in both of them should this not be the end of the assault. If they agreed with him he would run at full speed stopping next to Cloud preparing for a duo of legendary names, but if the two members decided he should stay he would remain by their sides.

It seemed that where Cloud appeared to was not where he needed to be. A group of five shinobi had been on the outskirts, awaiting the rest to fail. "Seems they anticipated it huh?" Cloud said as he picked up the kunai that he had transported them too. Their backs were against a tree where no one could get to them unless they went through Cloud. The five shinobi attacked in formations as the blonde ANBU blocked, parried and dodged each. Kicks and slashes kept them at bay as he moved with fluentiness.

As two shinobi attacked from either side, Cloud propelled himself into the air so their blades clashed and kicked outward into both of their faces and threw the kunai outward as the man who he targeted caught it with ease. Cloud flashed forward and hit the blade with the back of his elbow and forced the kunai into his eye. The other two shinobi took this chance to attack at the two princes. Handsigns were formed quickly and the earth shot upward from underneath the two and had them in the air about twenty feet. It would be easy for the other's to spot them from there.

"I think we should all go together the more eyes on the princes the better, You three maybe good but I cant you go alone." Mai would begin running toward where she believed cloud and the princes to be on guard ready in case there is another ambush she does not sense anything strange but she must be safer than it was before. Mai would then activate her Golden Medical Eye to check her groups chakra flows as they were all normal and there were not any different signatures within eye shot of her.

Rai was perfectly fine with leaving whatever danger presented itself next to Cloud, as he knew the man's skill. While Cloud's current job was to protect the princes that he flashed away with, Rai took it as his mission to make sure nothing happened to the two shinobi before him. Though he never really saw for himself, he knew that Shinji wouldn't really need much protection. But a little backup was never a bad thing. The girl proved to be a good support but she was no front lines fighter. The rule for a medic was to stay in the back. Unless, the medic had proven to reach a certain level like himself. But that was not common.

He supposed they were stronger as a group, which was why he wordlessly followed Shinji and Mai as they rushed off to help Cloud. As he ran he saw two bodies shoot up in the air, undoubtedly where they would find the captain.

As he got there he saw that Cloud had already managed to take out one man with a kunai to the eye. And the two that shot up in the air landed motionless, making that three. There were two more, who Rai had assumed were just recuperating from being knocked back. They both ran towards Cloud, and Rai watched and waited to see what would happen next as he stood defensively in front of Mai. He wanted to be by their side, but Shinji had called dibs, so he was best right where he stood.

The three would run to the location detected by the two flying men, Shinji arrived first only because he was the first to take off in the direction. One man dispatched with the kunai buried with in the eye socket, the other two ninja collapsed to the ground after being knocked into the air. The last two ran towards Cloud kunai in their hands, it wasn't a moment after they started running that Shinji would run and then allow his speed to slide him across the road up to Clouds side. Standing with Cloud to his right, his right hand grasping the tanto he would watch the man on his left and speak to Cloud. "I know you can take them but no need to ware your self down, I got this one" Moments after he would start running drawing his tanto, he would clash steel with steal before back flipping placing a toe kick into his lower chin. The kick enough to lift the man up and knock him into the air, Shinji landing would throw the tanto into this gut the impact of the blade wouldn't be deep enough initially to end the fight so with a quick jump he would grasp his tanto as the two were in the air. Swiping the blade from the wound he would spin from the momentum and slice the mans neck, as they both landed on the ground Shinji would grab his arm. The numbness as he looked it would appear that the man had been so close when the body twitched from the throat cutting the blade had cut Shinji's shoulder, grabbing it he would return to Rai and Mai speaking calmly as he grasped the small cut filled with the blades poison. "Mai, How bad is that poison?" the blood coming from behind his fingers, he would make his way up to Mai and Rai.

The other's had arrived moments after he had disposed of three of them. "Glad to see you guys made it out in one piece." Cloud said as Shinji stepped up next to him. Two legendary name sakes right along side each other was enough to make any enemy quiver in their wake. "Well then. Let's take them down." The blonde said as he created hand signs and the lightning formed strongly in his right hand. The Chidori was a new move that Rai probably had not even known he mastered along the time.

With a quick throw, a kunai flew towards the man he was supposed to take down. His Flying Thunder God needed to rest so Cloud moved with incredibly speed towards his opponent. One of the ANBU Captain's best abilities was his flexibility when in battle as he dodged his opponent's slash by pivoting himself upward. The right hand that held the chidori cut forward and ripped through the man's neck. With one flash chop, the man's entire head was taken off.

Cloud looked at the blood that had spurted out onto him and Shinji. "Think that's it?"

Kin Would watch the two skillful ninja take down the rogue ninja's and mercenaries, Mai would then rush to the prince and his son when two mercenaries would rush from under neath Kin was not unprepared and would soon enough have chakra flowing to her hand and with a swift punch she sent the mercenary through three trees the other one would try to strike her down with his blade but Mai would skillfully dodge his blade and then return the favor with a punch to his face. sending him through a few branches. 

Soon enough the conflict has ended Shinji and Cloud would return to her and Rai Shinji was gushing blood. This can not be good. That was the only thing rushing through her mind when he asks how bad the poison was. "Well its a slow moving poison so we still have time before it kills you." Reaching into her pouch she would grab a senbon. Activating her Medical Eye she would see the poison was moving slowly through his arm. Taking his arm she would use the senbon to cut it open just enough . Soon blood would begin to rush from his arm she could see some of the poison being extracted at a sufficient pace now all she needed was to make sure the cut would heal properly.  Mai would then Bite her thumb and preform the hand seals of  Boar → Dog → Bird → Monkey → Ram then placing her hand agaisnt the tree in a puff of smoke A pink Slug b the name of Katsoni would appear. "How is it hanging Mai." Mai would disreagard the Slugs greeting by picking it up from the tree and placing it on Shinji's arm. "Katsoni's mucus has healing properties." The Would would begin to close and hopefully Shinji would feel better.

Just as soon as it began the attack had ended. Those who had attacked them were either really courageous or really stupid. In his line of work it was easy to find people who had both qualities. He stood there and watched with obvious interest as Mai extracted the poison that was lingering in Shinji's arm and summoned a slug to heal the cut she had made in order to do so. Her abilities were proficient, and her urgency was a great trait for a medic. But what was most interesting were her eyes. She was able to see, which was something he of all people could respect.

Luckily it wasn't a deadlier poison, or extra treatment would have had to be taken. Maybe an antidote would have had to have been made. But just like the enemy shinobi, their poison was weak. Turning to Cloud, who he knew was checking out the abilities of their fellow Konoha shinobi as much as he, Rai nodded. Both other men were covered in blood, and the princes looked as frightened as could be. It was not difficult to tell that they had never seen much bloodshed.

"Looks like we're clear. Shall we finish the mission up?"

Shinji would watch as the slug was placed on his shoulder only moments after Mai had tore it open to drain the poison, he smiled and spoke to both the slug and Mai "Thank you. I am starting to regain feeling in my arm." It wasn't long after that Rai spoke of traveling and completing the mission, leading Shinji to reply "I agree let's keep it moving." He would wait for Cloud and Mai to decide where to go from here.

All of the enemies were cleared and Mai extracted the poision with ease from Shinji's arm. Cloud watched intently as she healed the White Lightning's wound. "You ever thought of taking up ANBU Mai? I've been searching for a middle ranked medical shinobi among my platoon." There was a quick shot look over to Rai as the blonde nodded towards to girl. Almost as to ask if he felt the same way. One thing he had learned with leadership was that he needed at least one other person who he trusted output. That man was Rai Hyuga.

The platoon of four continued onward for the mission. "Feels almost incomplete.. Surely we weren't all assigned here for that medicore of an attack." Cloud began to wonder if the Hokage was right in that decision or if there was something far worse than the last couple of low levels that had attacked them. Could it be there was a stronger opponent that awaited them down the trial.

"Honestly Cloud. The Anbu never seemed my cup of tea, I cant take a life unless I absolutely have to, goes against everything my clan stands for." She moves the hair on her back to uncover a symbol of a tree with lots of roots. " This is my clan symbol its the tree of life, just like my eyes we see that everything has a purpose and we are very pacifistic and hate fighting."

Rai listened as Cloud asked Mai about the ANBU. He had been thinking about it himself and truthfully, he hadn't thought it a bad idea. She had impressed him already, he was just surprised that Cloud had been thinking the same thing. When the blond looked at him he nodded, giving his approval. But it seemed as though the girl was not interested. She had developed her own take on the ANBU, and in turn, she didn't want any part in it. He had to admit, what she said wasn't necessarily a lie, the ANBU were there to fulfill the Hokage's missions, and sometime the mission was to kill.

As they moved onward, Cloud mentioned how uneasy he was about the simplicity of the mission so far. Sometimes missions were just duds and nothing exciting happened. But this time, he too felt that there was more to come. Taking his post in the back, he activated his Byakugan and looked forward as far as he could. His eyes widened slightly at what he saw.

"You're right. Those ninja were only beginning. Ahead of us is nothing short of a small army, waiting to ambush us. I'm guessing we just took out the scouting platoon. There has to be forty people there minimum." He took a closer look at each person."Theres no guarantee that all of them are ninja, some seem like civilians. But the question is…will we continue walking into their ambush, or will we turn it around on them?"

Shinji just walked along listening to them all talk, he observed the conversation and the ANBU conversation and request. He then listened to them talking about the people ahead, and decided it was his turn. His arm now fully healed, he began to speak "Together we are bulk, you all stay here and I'll quickly scout ahead. I can move fast and quietly by myself. If anything goes wrong I will signal for help, trust me." Finishing he would wait for their responses.

If no one disagreed he would walk not straight, into the tree line next to the road. Once vanishing into the trees he would begin making a slight angled progression, in order to circle around behind the enemy. Several minutes passing he would arrive behind the unit, it would appear to be a convoy that was being raided. Apparently waiting on them was not enough, looking he counted 20 ninja and 20 civilians. The civilians were sitting in a wagon tied, while the ninja were moving cargo and setting up the ambush.

If the team disagreed Shinji would question them, "So you would rather not know what we are up against? That's foolish, recon is always important." His calm voice becoming a slightly irritated variant.

Mai rejected his offer, as she said that she was a pacifist that did not like killing. "Well, I've never been one for pacifism but I'll respect that if you respect mine.." Cloud said with a simple shake of his head. Not being a killer in the world of shinobi was a hard thing to do.

There was forty or so shinobi.. Well half shinobi, half civilians that was ahead of him them. Shinji began to offer to go ahead of them and scout the people ahead. "Go on ahead, we'll wait here. If we don't hear back in 15 minutes, we are coming in full force." Cloud said as he moved toward a random tree, he bent over and leaned his back against the tree as he waited for the White Lightning of Konoha to go ahead and see what their next opponents were capable of.

Cloud stared forward through the forest at the other two. "When Shinji gets back and we come up with a plan, no matter what, we leave only one survivor shinobi from that group. All the rest will get killed without hesitation. Understood.. Both of you?" The last part was more for the pacifist Mai, if she did not agree then she could step out of the way.

Mai would respect Clouds views and would move on from there. Looking around she would  look at the princes son who seemingly somehow got a scratch on his arm. She would kneel down and take the boys arm. He would be very resistant and would yank his arm out of her hand. "Your majesty can I please look at your sons arm, I believe he was cut by one of the mercenaries blades." She would look at the prince awaiting his response. She would not touch the boy if he would deny her. "Please I dont want my son injured." The prince would except his offer and Mai would lift up his sleeve to reveal a large gash going the whole with of the boys arm. He had manged to stop the bleeding but he was still poisoned.  "Mai would activate her Golden medical Eye to reveal that the poison had almost fully spread. The Boy began to sweat and fell into her arms. "Why would you hide something like this." She put the boy down removing her pouch on her leg to use as a pillow to prob the boy who has gone fully unconscious, Thankfully she never sent Katsoni back to the forest  and the slug slide from Mai's shoulder on to the boy. "Please can you watch over your son while I report this to my superior. Mai would put her bag down on the ground and reconvene with the group. 

Upon meeting up with the boys she would over hear the men talking about what she could only hear as an army. "Forty men?" she would ask for reassurance. "We also have another problem. The princes soon was cut by an enemies Kunai and has fallen ill to the poison, I have Katsoni trying to stop the spread but from what I saw with my eyes his condition is not good the poison is eating away at his tissue and muscle." She would cross her arms and look back in the princes direction. "The boy has a fever of what I could only assume as 108 degrees and his blood pressure is rising,  I could use my One's Own Life Reincarnation technique to bring by the boys life force but that could result in complete loss of chakra and or death. "I see no other way to get us out of the situation. " She went full medical ninja mode explaining the only possible outcome. If I only knew how to extract poison with my chakra I could save his life with minimal difficulty."
