History: The Hōki Family is a matrilineal shinobi clan of medical-nin and information gatherers from Sunagakure, who originated and moved down to the village from Konohagakure. The members of the family are also called "people who work behind the scenes" and, until the events of the Clan Wars, were never placed in the centre of the Land of Wind's eye. The women of the family don't show their faces without make-up to any man, with the exception of the one they're going to marry. The founding member is believe to be Hōki  no Satchiko, a wandering doctor who worked primarily in the Lands of Wind and Fire about 2 centuries ago. Most of the men of the family lack the natural expertise of the women when it comes to Medical Ninjutsu. The few that are, however, are most of the time rather feminine appearance and in personality.
