History: The Chikamatsu, started by Monzaemon Chikamatsu, is one of the noble clans of Sunagakure and for good reason. Monzaemon Chikamatsu, a man of great skill and intelligence, is responsible for the art of turning puppets into mechanical weapons of death. Monzaemon lived centuries ago in the Land of Wind and was quite famous for designing puppets. His puppets were considered high quality, and always fetched a fair price. They were so highly cherished that even the Feudal Lords would request Monzaemon for a puppet or two. Thus, from the get-go, Monzaemon was a established man. And yet....it wasn't enough for him. For decades the man tinkered with his 10 favorite puppets, which are now known as the Chikamatsu Collection. He made constant revisions and edits, adding and taking out parts. The entire process took a total of 49 years. The name Chikamatsu was beginning to be forgotten, and Monzaemon's word wasn't as wanted anymore. A warlord was running rampant through the land at the time, attacking the Feudal Lord's land and such. He built a castle in the desert, which housed him and his strongest.

Then Monzaemon appeared. Using chakra threads and all the time spent on his collection, he managed to create the Kugutsu no Jutsu, or the Puppet Technique. He was the first Puppeteer. Wielding each of the Chikamatsu Collection with a single finger, Monzaemon slaughted the warriors of the castle and brought the warlord's head to the Daimyo.
Since the, Chikamatsu have been highly revered for their advanced design in puppetry, learning the craft from a very young age.
